The president of the press employers' association, Mamadou Ibra Kane, reacted strongly following the TDS-SA press release justifying the cuts to certain DTT channels due to unpaid bills.

“The Cdeps was not informed. This is not the first illegality of the new regime. TDS-SA cannot cut the signal without going through the CNRA,” he said, pointing to what he considers a violation of regulatory procedures.

He also criticized the government for its hostile approach to the private press. "The problem is that the new regime not only does not understand the press, but it also wants to liquidate the entire private press, without discernment, which had completely compromised itself with the old regime."

According to him, this situation stems from a biased view of the media landscape. “For Pastef, the only media that matters are social media. This simplistic and political view of the media, on the part of the government, has led to the current situation.”
