Bordeaux : opérations bizarres autour du siège du consulat du Sénégal

According to Le Témoin, the Financial Judicial Pool (PJF) has an interest in investigating the management of the building housing the Senegalese consulate in Bordeaux. According to the newspaper's description, it is "a listed private mansion" with two floors spread over 1000 m2. Located in the heart of the Bordeaux metropolitan area, the building was acquired under Abdoulaye Wade.

Between 2010 and 2011, it housed the chancellery and the residence of the consul general, Momar Thiam at the time. Renovated in 2012, the mansion had all the amenities, according to Le Témoin, to continue to house the Senegalese consulate in Bordeaux. But in 2013, the newspaper whispers, diplomatic staff and other residents were asked to leave the building for renovation work, a year after the last one.

"Surprisingly, the Senegalese consulate in Bordeaux has moved to another site, without explanation," the same source points out. The surprise is all the greater since the State of Senegal had rented the new site while the private mansion seemed available and functional.

"A state of affairs that led diplomats and agents to think about the possible sale of the site by the new authorities, the Macky Sall regime. The fact remains that during the Macky Sall years, the affair of the Senegal building in Bordeaux fueled all sorts of rumors, reports Le Témoin. How can a State continue to pay rents estimated at several billion CFA francs when it has an official site intended for the chancellery and can even house the residence of the consul general?"

The newspaper reports that it was on the eve of the last presidential election that the chancellery was suddenly transferred to the Senegal mansion in Bordeaux. Its previous headquarters, between 2010 and 2011.
