Momar Tine, manœuvre du bâtiment : amputé d’une jambe, mais debout face à la vie
Not all heroes wear capes, and Momar Tine is a living example. At just 23 years old, he embodies an inner strength that defies adversity. Torn between resilience and family responsibilities, this young laborer juggles sacrifice and perseverance, even going so far as to postpone his dream of graduating high school to ensure the well-being of his loved ones.
In the Liberté 6 Extension neighborhood, an imposing six-story building nearing completion catches the eye. Behind this burgeoning structure, workers are working tirelessly. Among them, a young man stands out for his unwavering determination: Momar Tine. At 23, he carries within him a story of courage and resilience. Having had his left leg amputated since childhood, he refuses to let his disability slow his momentum. A laborer on this construction site for the past few days, the young man spares no effort and carries out his tasks with rigor and vigor.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., he mixes materials and supplies the skilled workers. It's a grueling job that requires considerable physical stamina, especially during Ramadan. Yet, it takes much more than that to shake Momar.
Leaning on one of his crutches resting on his left stump, he wields the shovel with ease and spares no effort. This determination commands respect and admiration from both his colleagues and his management, starting with his loved ones. At Afriland Compagny, the company in charge of the project, the inclusion of people with disabilities is not just a slogan: it's a reality anchored in its corporate culture.
Seeing him invest himself with such ease, one might think he had always lived with this condition. However, his destiny changed at the age of 10, after persistent pain in his ankle.
The diagnosis fell like a blow: amputation was inevitable. A brutal ordeal for a child, but Momar refused to give in. The only boy in a family of four, he took on heavy responsibilities at a very early age. After the loss of his father, he became the pillar of the family, taking on a series of odd jobs to support his mother, a restaurateur in Grand-Yoff.
A hard worker, he is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities. His ambition? To earn a decent living to ensure the well-being of his family.
At the same time, Momar continued his studies. A student in his final year of secondary school at the Parcelles Assainies high school, unit 13, he was one step away from obtaining his baccalaureate. But faced with financial constraints, he had to put his academic ambitions on hold, preferring to support his mother by contributing to household expenses. Yet, in the back of his mind, he harbors a corollary wish to obtain the precious sesame.
His disability doesn't stop him from enjoying life's pleasures. A lifelong football enthusiast, he continues to follow and play the sport despite the accident that changed his life.
Far from wallowing in victimization, Momar insists he has never experienced discrimination in his career. But he remains aware of the challenges faced by many people with disabilities and advocates for better integration into society and the workplace.
Momar Tine has turned this painful ordeal into a source of strength. A hardworking man, he seeks neither compassion nor special treatment. What he wants is to move forward, to fight with the means at his disposal, to prove that determination can move mountains. Every day, under the scorching sun of the construction site, he forges his future with the sweat of his brow while refusing to let his disability dictate his life.

Le fait d'avoir cédé à la demande insensée des députés d'alors pour donner des passeports diplomatiques à leurs épouses a ouvert la porte à toutes les dérives. Et cela risque de décridibiliser davantage le passeport
