A delegation from the Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs and the General Delegation for Pilgrimage (Dgp) visited Jeddah from March 7 to 14, 2025, as part of preparations for the 2025 edition of the pilgrimage to Mecca, to ensure the conditions for welcoming pilgrims and finalize access to the electronic platform dedicated to the hajj.

Thus, a quota of 12,860 pilgrims was granted to Senegal by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj, but to date, only 7,000 have been registered. "Indeed, out of a quota of 12,860 pilgrims granted to Senegal, the Ministry of Hajj informed, on March 12, 2025, of the need to finalize the housing and transportation contracts of the 7,000 pilgrims already registered," wrote the office of Minister Yacine Fall, specifying that the housing and transportation contracts must be finalized quickly.

The Dgp reminds, to this effect, that the deadline for concluding all contractual and payment operations is set at March 25, 2025. “Beyond this date, any tour operator who has not finalized its payments will be foreclosed, and previously made bank transfers will be canceled and repatriated,” it was warned in a press release.

According to the delegation, despite the opening of the portal facilitating these procedures, "the progress of payments remains very slow", which would cause some tour operators to lose their places.

Faced with this situation, the DGP urges the stakeholders concerned to "take all necessary measures to fulfill their obligations to their pilgrims," in accordance with the specifications. It "reaffirms its readiness to support all groups" to ensure the success of the pilgrimage.

The group leaders are requested to take the necessary and required measures for the well-being of the pilgrims.
