Macky's "hidden debt" affair: Papa Malick Ndour mentions "confidential documents"

Former Youth Minister Papa Malick Ndour has strongly contested the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) revelations about an alleged hidden debt of $7 billion (approximately 4 trillion CFA francs) under the Macky Sall regime. According to him, the Court of Auditors' report is unfounded and biased because it allegedly failed to respect "the principle of adversarial proceedings," thus precluding any opportunity for former officials to speak out.

Faced with these accusations, the Alliance for the Republic (APR) claims to have contacted the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to present its version of events. "We have sent a letter to the IMF and we have in our possession confidential documents, as well as public documents, which we intend to present to prove that there is no crisis," he told France 24.

Mr. Ndour denounced the new government's desire to discredit the old regime in order to mask its own difficulties. "We blame them for their lack of maturity, but above all for their attempt to tarnish the image of Senegal and President Macky Sall," he added.

The former minister finally believes that this controversy is aimed at preparing the groundwork to justify possible economic underperformance. "They know they will have nothing to present when the time comes to take stock, so they are organizing this headlong rush," he concluded.
