Sortie du livre d’Abdoul Aziz Diagne : L’administration à visage humain, récit d’un enfant de la République

The Senegalese literary and institutional universe is enriched by a new publication that will be a landmark: "Administration with a human face, the story of a child of the Republic", signed by Abdoul Aziz Diagne.

In this dense and well-documented book, the author, a senior official in the Administration in his capacity as Controller of Taxes and Estates, as a key player and witness of the public service, offers a unique perspective on the Senegalese administration and the men and women who bring it to life on a daily basis.

More than a personal account, the work is a dive into the heart of the state apparatus, told with the benefit of experience and the objective sincerity of the witness.

Abdoul Aziz Diagne does not limit himself to exposing administrative mechanisms; he gives flesh and voice to civil servants, too often perceived as simple anonymous cogs, but who are in reality essential actors of the Republic.

A dive into the realities of administration

This work is also an elegy to the values of the Republic through the medium of public schools.

Through these chapters, the author explores the tensions and contradictions of an often-criticized but indispensable institution: between bureaucratic rigor and the creativity of its staff, between political constraints and professional ethics, between the system's inertia and the will to reform. This account offers a valuable inside look at the administration.

A tribute to civil servants, “men in the shadows”

The book also seeks to rehabilitate the image of the civil servant, "Man in the shadows, light of the nation," according to the author's favorite expression.

These women and men, sometimes invisible, carry out a decisive republican mission: to guarantee the continuity of the State and support citizens in their rights as well as their duties.

Universal themes: commitment, ethics and public service

Beyond the testimony, Abdoul Aziz Diagne addresses themes of universal significance: the sense of duty, loyalty to the Republic, dignity in the exercise of public office, but also the challenges of modernization and transparency. The book is thus part of a broader reflection on the relationship between administration and citizenship, between power and responsibility.

A personal and collective story

If the book is titled "The Story of a Child of the Republic," it is because the author interweaves his own journey with that of the institution. His personal story becomes a pretext to tell the story of a generation of committed civil servants, confronted with moral dilemmas, but always driven by the ideal of serving the general interest.

With "Administration with a Human Face," Abdoul Aziz Diagne has written a book that is both analytical and profoundly human. It offers not only a reflection on the state, but also a meditation on the value of work, commitment, and loyalty to republican ideals.

The release of this book marks a significant moment in the debate on the future of the Senegalese administration. It is aimed at researchers and students in the social sciences, as well as public service practitioners and any citizen curious to understand the workings of the state.

He subsequently obtained a master's degree in finance and public management at the Institut supérieur de finances (ISF) in Dakar.

Passionate about educational issues, he has followed several training courses in the fields of development and administration.

He is currently preparing a doctoral thesis in management sciences at Paul-Valéry University Montpellier 3, in France.
