Inculpé pour viols, Marius Borg Høiby est ruiné: “Il lui reste 6.700 euros”
Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, also appears to be in financial difficulty, facing a ten-year prison sentence for four rapes, among other charges. According to the latest tax figures, his fortune has plummeted to 80,000 Norwegian kroner, or around €6,700.
Figures consulted by the Norwegian news website Nettavisen show that Marius Borg Høiby's wealth is at an all-time low. In 2024, according to the most recent data, his taxable income was only 48,065 Norwegian kroner (4,055 euros), a decrease of more than half compared to the previous year. Moreover, his overall wealth has declined considerably in recent years: in 2022, the young man still had around 2.1 million Norwegian kroner (nearly 177,000 euros), while today he has only 80,000 Norwegian kroner (6,700 euros) left.
His financial problems are closely linked to his legal troubles. As reported by local media outlet VG, during his interrogation, Marius Borg Høiby stated that he received 20,000 kroner (about 1,700 euros) in pocket money each month from his mother and stepfather, Crown Prince Haakon. This money was intended to pay the rent for the apartment where he lived with his then-girlfriend, influencer Nora Haukland. However, according to the Norwegian newspaper, it was the young woman who paid the rent. Marius Borg Høiby used the money to buy drugs.
"No control" over his accounts
During interrogation, Marius Borg Høiby also stated that he had no overview of his own spending. He admitted to being in debt, but that he had no control over his financial situation. To prevent all his money from being paid to debt collection agencies, his mother managed his accounts. He also explained that his mother regularly did his shopping for him. Even his friends sometimes helped him by lending him money.
His financial situation could be further exacerbated by the possible consequences of his trial. In addition to a prison sentence, the victims could also seek damages, according to the Norwegian press. At this stage, Marius Borg Høiby and his lawyer refuse to comment on the figures revealed by the media outlet Nettavisen. These come from the tax lists, which are publicly available in Norway. Since Marius Borg Høiby does not hold a royal title or hold any official position within the monarchy, any citizen can view his tax information.
Charge
The eldest son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been charged with 32 offenses, including four rapes. In addition to the four rapes, Marius Borg Høiby is charged with mistreatment of two former partners, acts of violence, and filming and recording videos without consent. The young man, born from a relationship prior to his mother Mette-Marit's marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, was arrested in August 2024 on suspicion of assaulting his partner. A months-long investigation ensued, fueled by further revelations and complaints from several victims.
