The new head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Pakpour, on Friday promised Israel "the gates of hell" and "destructive consequences" after strikes against Iranian territory.

"The criminal and illegitimate Zionist regime will face a bitter and painful fate, with enormous and destructive consequences," Pakpour was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency. "The gates of hell will soon open upon this regime," added the replacement for Hossein Salami, who was killed by an Israeli strike.
