Poutine annonce un essai final réussi d'un missile de croisière à propulsion nucléaire
President Vladimir Putin announced Sunday a successful final test of a Russian nuclear-powered cruise missile, Burevestnik, praising the "unique" weapon with a range of up to 14,000 km, amid Russia's offensive in Ukraine.
"The decisive tests are now complete," Putin said in a video released by the Kremlin during a meeting with military officials, ordering the start of "preparing the infrastructure to put this weapon into service in the Russian armed forces."
"It is a unique creation that no one else in the world possesses," assured the Kremlin master, according to whom the Burevestnik (storm bird in Russian) has an "unlimited range."
During the last test on October 21, the Burevestnik missile spent "about 15 hours in the air," covering a distance of 14,000 km, said the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, adding that "this is not a limit" for this weapon.
"The technical characteristics of the Bourevestnik allow it to be used with guaranteed accuracy against highly protected sites located at any distance," he said.
Vladimir Putin announced the development of these missiles by the Russian army in 2018, which he said were capable of overcoming almost all interception systems.
