Celebrity outlet TMZ released a video in which the 26-year-old artist, known for his hits "Old Town Road" and "Industry Baby," struts down one of the Californian city's main thoroughfares, directly addressing the person filming him: "Go baby!" and "Don't be late to the party tonight!"
According to other US media outlets, including Variety and the Los Angeles Times, Lil Nas X was subsequently arrested by police and hospitalized for a "possible overdose."
Contacted by AFP, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles police explained that officers were called to the Studio City neighborhood shortly before 6 a.m. for "a naked man walking in the street," without revealing the individual's identity.
"Upon arrival, the suspect rushed the officers. He was taken into custody and taken to the hospital for a possible overdose, then arrested for assaulting a police officer," the spokesperson confirmed.
His duet with country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus's father, "Old Town Road," was until recently the most certified song of all time by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which represents the industry, according to trade magazine Billboard.
