La confidence cash de Sonko sur ses ministres : «Si on me demandait en qui j’ai le plus confiance…»
Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko presided over a March 8th ceremony on Monday, organized by the women of his office. During the event, he emphasized the role of women in society. "Earlier, I spoke with the Minister of Justice about prison statistics. She told me that only 3.4% of the prison population consists of women. The rest are men. This means that women are much more respectful of the law and societal norms," stated Ousmane Sonko.
He emphasized that the country cannot be built today while leaving women behind. For Ousmane Sonko, a country that moves forward without its women is, in fact, a country that is not moving forward at all. "And that is why we will continue to work, to implement concrete measures. Among these measures, I can announce land reform, especially in rural areas, which should allow women access to the land they are the most numerous to work in, in fact, in rural areas. It should also allow women to access positions of greater responsibility," he said.
Moreover, the Prime Minister indicated that within his government, these are the women he trusts the most: “Last Wednesday, during the cabinet meeting, I was walking around the meeting table, looking at the ministers and counting. We have, I believe, four female ministers. I was thinking to myself, ‘Strangely enough, if I were asked who I trust the most in this room, I would say it’s these four women. Because I know they would never betray me. They are faithful and loyal in their relationships,’” the Prime Minister stated.
