The 12th edition of the Cheikh Ibrahima Niasse International Quran Recital Grand Prix was launched this Wednesday in Keur Baye Niasse, in the religious city of Medina Baye, in the presence of family members and the president of the organizing committee Cheikh Mouhamed Abdou Malick Niasse. The latter announced that the competition will continue throughout the month of Ramadan.

Created in 2013, the Cheikh Ibrahima Niasse International Grand Prize for the recitation of the Holy Quran aims to popularize Quranic education, but also the teachings of the founder of Fayda Tidianya Cheikh Al Islam El Hadj Ibrahima Niasse.

Returning to the non-participation of foreign candidates for this current edition, Cheikh Abdou Malick Niasse emphasizes that the 10th and 11th editions were won by candidates from Niger and Bangladesh. "We have noted that this competition was created to popularize the teachings of the Koran in Medina Baye, with innovations that rhyme with the teachings of God. We want to further train our children so that they can compete with those from abroad. This is why, this year, we have limited it to the national level," he justified himself.

It should be noted that more than 60 candidates from Koranic schools in the country will be in the running for this edition. The organizers did not fail to launch an appeal to the new authorities for support for this competition.
