Ensa-Thiès : Encore 72H de grève, du mardi 16 au jeudi 18 septembre

After a 72-hour total strike on September 11, 12 and 13, 2025, following a widely followed walkout, the section of the autonomous union of higher education (Saes) of the National Higher School of Agriculture (Ensa) of Thiès decided to renew a 72-hour total strike, starting Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

The ENSA SAES section, during its General Assembly on Monday, September 15, 2025, noted "the absence of official progress" to date. However, it reaffirmed its availability for dialogue, while remaining firm in the implementation of its action plan.

It urges the Management to play its full role in finding rapid and sustainable solutions, in order to enable ENSA to operate in accordance with its status and to contribute effectively to achieving the objectives of national food sovereignty.

As a reminder, the General Assembly of the SAES-ENSA section, meeting on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, carried out an in-depth analysis of the institutional and functional situation of the School. It was thus noted that, twenty-one (21) months after the promulgation of Decree No. 2023-2304 of December 1, 2023, granting ENSA its administrative and financial autonomy, serious dysfunctions persist, grouped around several points.

These are "academic and institutional governance: the failure to organize elections for the Director, the Director of Studies and the Heads of Department; the failure to establish governance bodies, in particular the Board of Directors", "financial and administrative management: the failure to assign a Private Accounting Officer specifically attached to

ENSA and having offices within the establishment; the insufficiency of the budget allocated to ensure the normal functioning of the School; the ineffectiveness of the devolution between Iba Der Thiam University and ENSA concerning, in particular, social charges (IPRES, CSS, FNR)”.

Not to mention "the legal and institutional framework: the omission of ENSA in decree no. 2024-940 of April 5, 2024 relating to the distribution of State services." Faced with the persistence of these shortcomings, the SAES-ENSA section had decreed a

clutch.

A new General Assembly is convened for Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10 a.m.
