Matam : Une délégation de soutien sollicite des prières auprès des chefs religieux pour faire libérer Farba Ngom et Tahirou Sarr

The political leaders of the Alliance for the Republic (APR) in Matam are more determined than ever to free Farba Ngom from prison, as well as his accomplice Tahirou Sarr. After their demonstrations of support, held on both sides, for the deputy mayor of Agnam, who was sent to prison on February 27, Me Moussa Bocar Thiam and Co. have decided to take the fight to another level. They have formed a support delegation to visit religious leaders in the Matam region to raise awareness and ask for their prayers for the release of their party comrade.

A large delegation led by Me Moussa Bocar Thiam

Led by the former minister and current mayor of Ourossogui, this important delegation in support of the honorable deputy Farba Ngom is composed of the presidents of the departmental council, honorable deputies, mayors and deputy mayors of the region as well as relatives and friends. It left Dakar this Wednesday, March 19, 2025, to travel, in turn, to Ranérou, Thiancone Boguel, Ourossogui and Ogo.

In Ranérou, the delegation visited Thierno Amadou Younouss Ba. There, Moussa Bocar Thiam, Farba's lawyer, explained the purpose of his visit to the imam before requesting his prayers for the release of the mayor of Agnam, who, according to him, is "an emblematic figure" in the political landscape of Fouta.

After Ranérou, they headed to Thiancone Boguel, where Farba's party comrades met with Chérif Mamoudou Aïdara, the local religious leader. There, the delegation also reviewed the details of Farba's arrest before requesting the Caliph's prayers.

In his commune of Ourossogui, Mayor Moussa Bocar Thiam and his delegation visited Thierno Aliou Thiam to raise awareness about the case of the mayor of Agnam and ask for his prayers. In turn, the religious leader, who welcomed the delegation's visit, pledged to advocate for the release of their two sons.

In Ogo, where the delegation supporting Farba Ngom concluded its first day of visits, it was received by the brothers of Thierno Yaya Wellé. Here, too, Mr. Moussa Bocar Thiam did the same.

“A peaceful and concerted approach to request prayers”

At the end of this series of visits to these religious leaders in the region, the head of the delegation maintained that these visits are part of a peaceful and concerted approach to request prayers for these two sons of Fouta. "Political leaders from the Matam region made a strong delegation composed of mayors, presidents of departmental councils, deputies, among others, to visit the religious leaders of the region to raise their awareness about the situation of the honorable deputy Farba Ngom," stressed Me Moussa Bocar Thiam.

And the lawyer added: "You know that Farba Ngom has been in prison for almost a month and he is someone who has contributed a lot to the commune of Agnam and the Matam region. This is why all political leaders are united as one to raise awareness among all religious leaders in the region so that they unite their prayers and actions for the immediate release of Farba Ngom and Tahirou Sarr."

For the former minister, Fouta is currently suffering from the absence of these two great figures in the Matam region. "Today, we met with weary populations, people who have always been supported by these two figures. We also received messages of hope from these religious leaders who are committed to increasing their prayers and commitments to the authorities and those of goodwill so that Farba Ngom and Tahirou Sarr can regain their freedom," insisted the lawyer for the mayor of Agnam.

The delegation will travel this Thursday to Kanel, Doumga, Wouro Alpha and Bokidiawé to meet other religious leaders for the benefit of these two sons of Fouta.

It should be recalled that Farba Ngom is charged by the Financial Judicial Pool with fraud involving public funds amounting to 31 billion CFA francs, money laundering, and criminal conspiracy. These charges are part of the investigation triggered by the report of the National Financial Information Processing Unit (CENTIF), which revealed suspicious money laundering transactions estimated at 125 billion CFA francs.

The general manager of the company Sofico, Tahirou Sarr, is being prosecuted in the case involving suspicious transactions estimated at 125 billion FCFA, revealed by a report from the National Financial Information Processing Unit (CENTIF).

Wait and ses!
