Explosions et fumée noire à Tel-Aviv après une alerte aux missiles iraniens
Explosions were heard Friday in Tel Aviv where warning sirens sounded, AFP journalists reported, after the Israeli army reported missile fire from Iran.
The explosions were heard as far away as Jerusalem, some 50 kilometers away as the crow flies. AFP journalists saw black smoke rising from two locations in the Tel Aviv area.
Images from AFP notably showed a warehouse on fire on the edge of a highway, from which thick black smoke rose.
Magen David Adom, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, said it had conducted searches, without finding any injured, in three locations for which they had received calls after the alert.
Shortly afterwards, the Israeli army reported a second salvo of Iranian missiles, adding that air defenses had been activated to intercept them.
In Rishon LeZion (central), near Ben Gurion International Airport, falling debris created a crater in a residential alley, covering the roof of a car parked nearby with dirt, with onlookers in their pajamas watching the scene.
About twenty kilometers away, in Shoham, firefighters were working to control a fire that had broken out in a house.
An American volunteer firefighter, Jonathan Saksek, who was present at the scene, told AFP that "families had to be evacuated" but that they "escaped unharmed".
In Iran, the Revolutionary Guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic, announced on Friday that they were firing missiles and drones at Israel, with the Lebanese Hezbollah supported by Tehran.
Since the start of the offensive led by Israel and the United States against Iran on February 28, most of the missile launches carried out in retaliation by Iran are intercepted by Israeli air defenses, but the debris that falls back to the ground regularly causes injuries and damage.
In total, 12 people have been killed in Israel since the start of the war.
