Armée : Libération d'un militaire retenu par une bande armée depuis les incidents de Djinaki
The Ministry of the Armed Forces issued a press release announcing the release of a soldier who had been held captive by an armed group since the incidents that occurred on the night of April 13, 2025, in the town of Djinaki (Bignona Department). His release was secured through mediation efforts undertaken over several months.
The soldier was handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on November 11, 2025.
According to the statement, the person in question "is doing well" and was transported to Dakar by the military authorities.
The Senegalese Army, while welcoming initiatives aimed at consolidating peace, reaffirmed its commitment to continue operations to secure people and property in Military Zone No. 5.
