Diomaye et Sonko, l'alerte du Pr Moussa Diaw : «Ce climat d'épreuve de force entre les deux hommes risque de…»
Relations between Ousmane Sonko and Bassirou Diomaye Faye appear to have deteriorated. From Saturday's "Tera meeting" to Monday's "Diomaye for President" affair, the actions of the two men leave no room for doubt. In this brief interview, Professor Moussa Diaw, a political scientist, analyzes the latest developments and raises the alarm.
The Tera meeting seems to have demonstrated the alignment of the Pastef party apparatus and its activists with Ousmane Sonko. Is Professor Diomaye now a lone and isolated president?
The success of this large gathering sends a very strong signal that reinforces the position of the party leader, Ousmane Sonko. However, President Diomaye cannot be considered isolated, especially since he belongs to and benefits from the support of this majority. Moreover, he is central to Sonko's speech, revealing their complementarity and ongoing consultation in implementing Senegal's political, economic, and social development plan.
What message did Ousmane Sonko want to send him through this massive mobilization?
The message seems clear. First, it aims to demonstrate his unwavering support from dedicated activists that makes him indispensable. This power dynamic places him at the heart of the political and social system, without which no transformation is possible. Therefore, opposing him poses an enormous risk, not only to the project's viability but, more importantly, to the country's institutional stability.
Is Professor Diomaye, today, crushed by the weight (popularity) of his prime minister?
I don't think President Diomaye could possibly feel that way. But it's clear he takes it into account in his political actions. We mustn't forget that his rise to the presidency is the result of a strategy conceived by his prime minister. The latter's work cannot be underestimated by viewing it as mere political maneuvering or attempts to position himself in a context of political instability. If such a scenario were to arise, it would trigger a political crisis with an uncertain outcome.
Ultimately, doesn't the resignation of the President from his party's governing bodies weaken him?
No, I don't think so, because it's a democratic tradition. In major democracies like France, the elected president relinquishes his position within his political party. This was the case with François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac, to name just a couple. The president will not emerge weakened; he will be above partisan considerations. He will have a balanced position from which to make decisions.
What is your interpretation of the latest developments, including the dismissal of Aïda Mbodj from the Presidency of "Diomaye Président", the appointment of Mimi Touré etc.?
The latest contradiction between the President and his Prime Minister regarding the choice of the head of the "Diomaye President" coalition further illustrates the strained relationship between the two men. Sonko had publicly endorsed Ms. Aïda Mbodj before his supporters at his "Téra meeting." President Diomaye, in a press release, has just reversed this decision by appointing Ms. Aminata Touré. This power struggle between the two men risks culminating in an institutional and political crisis.
What consequences could this generate between the two men?
Whenever such a situation arises, negotiations manage to reduce tensions at the highest levels of government. However, we cannot allow this type of relationship to continue, as it can negatively impact the functioning of our institutions. This must be brought to an end, and it is the President of the Republic's responsibility to prevent such pitfalls, which are symptomatic of dysfunction within the executive branch.
Does keeping Abdourahmane Diouf in the government risk leading both men towards even more delicate times ahead?
Yes, keeping Abdourahmane Diouf in the government, despite the Prime Minister's grievances, will not improve relations between the two heads of the executive branch. Generally, when a minister doesn't share the same positions or vision as the government, they leave for personal reasons or due to differences of opinion. Unfortunately, this approach is not yet ingrained in our political culture. In any case, these contradictions cannot continue in a government facing numerous challenges.
Note: This interview was conducted before Pastef's press release.

Macky moye Diomaye
- il demande de l'argent aux fournisseurs avant de pouvoir avoir un marché;
- il ne s'est pas ménagés ces équipes, il a eu plusieurs altercations avec des agents du ministère;
- il gère les primes des agents de façons injuste alors qu'il ne connait même pas la genèse de ces primes:
- ii a fait payé des primes de la hiérarchie A à des agents de la hiérarchie C
- IL a fait payé des primes de la hiérarchie C à des agents de la hiérarchie A ( il a divisé leur prime par A);

Kilifeu dignekoy maye Thieur !
