2e Sommet de l’AES : Ibrahim Traoré alerte sur un « hiver noir » pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest
At the opening of the 2nd Summit of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, warned of the advent of a "black winter" in West Africa, which he described as a "cold, bloody and deadly" period marked by increased violence, internal divisions and external interference.
In a forceful speech, he denounced what he considered toxic and hateful media narratives, accusing them of exacerbating social divisions and further destabilizing a region already facing serious security and geopolitical crises. Calling on the population to remain vigilant, he urged them not to be manipulated.
Faced with this bleak outlook, Ibrahim Traoré presented the AES Confederation as a collective bulwark. Using the metaphor of fire, he affirmed that the AES aims to warm consciences, strengthen unity, and prepare people to face this predicted "winter."
