Abidjan : Un homme vole plus de 2 millions dans une usine, insatisfait il retourne sur les lieux et se fait arrêter

In Abidjan, specifically in the commune of Anyama, a man stole more than two million CFA francs and as if that wasn't enough, he returned to the scene and was caught by the police.

According to Police Secours, which reported the events on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, it all began on November 17 at a coffee factory in Anyama. An employee stole a total of 2,300,000 FCFA and suddenly disappeared from the workplace. Factory managers noticed the disappearance of this large sum of money and that of one of their employees, and immediately alerted the police. An investigation was launched without delay.

A well-planned first robbery, a suspect quickly identified

After the complaint was filed, investigators from the Anyama police station went to the scene. Forensic investigators were mobilized, fingerprints were taken, and discreet surveillance was established around the factory. The investigation quickly narrowed down the list of suspects. One name kept coming up: BJP, 34, a factory employee. Since the night of the robbery, he had been nowhere to be found. His prolonged absence puzzled his superiors and fueled suspicions. Despite this, weeks passed without an arrest. The case seemed to have stalled, due to the inability to locate the suspect. Against all logic, BJP decided to return to the scene of the first robbery. On Sunday, February 1, 2026, a day the factory was usually closed, he forced his way back in. This time, he stole 296,000 CFA francs, thinking he was acting discreetly. But an anonymous tip reporting a suspicious presence changed the course of events.

Police officers from the Anyama station responded quickly and arrested the individual on the spot. Checks confirmed his identity. Confronted with the evidence gathered during the first robbery, BJP confessed and admitted to committing both break-ins. On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor, the suspect was brought before the Abobo prosecutor's office on February 2, 2026, to answer for his actions. This case illustrates how greed and recklessness can lead a man to fall into his own trap after several months on the run.
