ZONE MILITAIRE N⁰7 : Le message de gratitude et d'engagement du nouveau commandant, le colonel El Hadji Oumar Faye
The new commander of Military Zone 7, Colonel El Hadji Oumar Faye, was installed this Wednesday by Lieutenant General Mbaye Cissé, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. The ceremony took place at Mamadou Dia Square in Thiès, in the presence of generals, the governor of Thiès, and mayors. Colonel El Hadji Oumar Faye succeeds Colonel Thierno Gningue in this position.
Colonel Faye expressed his deep gratitude to the command for the trust placed in him. He also thanked his predecessors who did a remarkable job at the head of this zone, which covers the regions of Thiès and Diourbel.
The commander of zone number 7, to face the numerous security challenges and issues that await him, intends to rely on the synergy already existing between all the actors, in particular the administrative authorities, the defense and security forces, the populations and the community leaders.
"We are convinced that security is a co-production and requires the active contribution of everyone. Military Zone No. 7 houses elite units. I urge them to maintain their commitment to excellence. For my part, I am committed to supporting their rise to power by strengthening their operational capabilities and skills," said Colonel El Hadji Oumar Faye.
The installation ceremony of the new head of military zone No. 7 was also marked by a military parade.*
