Boubous légers, déhanchements spectaculaires : Les "Soirées Dior" dans le collimateur de la justice malienne
In Bamako, the "Dior Evenings" or "Boubou Parties" are dividing opinion. Some residents of the Malian capital consider the light boubous worn by women and the spectacular hip-swinging they perform at these events to be indecent. The governor of the Bamako district clearly agrees.
In a decision made public on Monday, September 8, he banned these "Boubou Parties" throughout the district.
Have fun and shine on social media
For Abdoulaye Coulibaly, these events, which often take place in hotels, apartments, and villas under the banner of African elegance, are "contrary to good morals." The women who participate, of course, have a different point of view. They see these evenings as moments of conviviality where they can dance to good music and shine on social media.
It's not uncommon to see videos of the event on TikTok or Snapchat. Women are sometimes caught in poses deemed provocative.
“Unhealthy exhibitions, libertine and obscene practices”
Malian Justice Minister Mamoudou Kassogué issued a statement on Monday condemning this state of affairs. "We have recently observed the dissemination on social media of obscene images and scenes during women's evenings known as 'Dior Evenings'. The minister reiterates that these evenings, which take the form of unhealthy exhibitions and libertine and obscene practices, are contrary to our customs and traditions and are likely to disturb public order."
They fall, in fact, under the "criminal law, both by the content of the acts committed and by their dissemination, commentary and sharing, particularly on social networks", informs the Minister of Justice who says he has set in motion the judicial system to repress these "unacceptable deviations".
“To crack down with the utmost rigor”
"The Attorneys General and all public prosecutors are instructed to take the utmost action against the perpetrators, co-perpetrators and accomplices of such acts and all other similar acts, both in their commission and in their dissemination and sharing on social networks as well as in the comments that accompany them," the authority states.

La main de l' Etat malien ne pas doit trembler, son autorité ne doit pas faiblir ; il a déjà établi des lois claires interdisant l'homosexualité ainsi que sa promotion et les pratiques qui y sont associées.
