Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema : « Je loue le courage du président Doumbouya… Il est sur la bonne voie »

The Gabonese president, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, arrived in Conakry on Monday, November 10, to take part on Tuesday in the official launch of the exploitation phase of the Simandou mega-mining project.

Upon his arrival at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport, he was warmly welcomed by his Guinean counterpart, General Mamadi Doumbouya. Speaking to the press, President Nguema praised the quality of his initial discussions with the Guinean head of state. "This is my first visit to Guinea, and I am pleased with what I have seen here and with my discussions with my counterpart," he stated.

Discussions between the two leaders focused, among other things, on the successful transition in Gabon and the prospects for a transition in Guinea. "I wish the same success to my counterpart who has already begun the process of organizing the referendum, which was a great success," said the Gabonese president.

Continuing, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema praised General Doumbouya's political courage, particularly his decision to pursue free and transparent elections. "I commend his courage in saying: 'I am going to the elections,' because elections bring peace and calm to Africa. They attract investors and bring the country back to constitutional order. He is on the right track," he stated.

Beyond political issues, the Gabonese president congratulated his Guinean counterpart on the progress made in infrastructure and on the realization of the Simandou project, a pillar of Guinea's mining development.

“I congratulate him on the infrastructure, especially the Simandou project which we came to launch. We will draw inspiration from the Guinean model, which is already a success,” he added, specifying that he had brought his Minister of Mines to share experiences and good practices with Guinea.

This visit by the Gabonese president to Conakry illustrates the shared desire of the two countries to strengthen their bilateral cooperation, both economically and politically, for a stronger and more united Africa.

Quelle Transition! Faire un coup d'état, utiliser ses moyens et sa puissance pour organiser des pseudo-élections et les gagner; c'est ça les transitions démocratiques à l'africaine.
