Cameroun : Le plus bas score de Paul Biya à la présidentielle souligne un déclin electoral inédit
President Paul Biya has been re-elected to a new term as Cameroon's president, winning the election with 53.66% of the vote, according to official results. While this victory ensures his continued rule, the result marks a historic and unprecedented setback in his string of re-elections.
Since the introduction of a multiparty system and the organization of competitive elections, the head of state has never seen his score fall to such a low level. This result, just above an absolute majority, highlights a significant erosion of his electoral base and growing discontent.
A decline demonstrated by the figures
The score of 53.66% contrasts sharply with the results of previous presidential elections, where Paul Biya won by a landslide in the first round:
2018: 71.28%
2011: 77.99%
2004: 70.92%
1997: 92.57%
The loss of nearly 18 points compared to the 2018 election (71.28%) is the most striking indicator of this downward trend. This spectacular decline can be explained, according to analysts, by the rise of a more united opposition, the impact of security crises (particularly in the English-speaking regions), and the weariness of a section of the population with a longevity in power of more than forty years.
Despite opposition protests, which denounce irregularities, this result is seen as a wake-up call for the ruling party, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM). It indicates the need for far-reaching reforms to regain the trust of a population that has, for the first time so clearly, expressed its desire for change at the ballot box.

L'afrique doit grandir et arrêter la forfaiture électorale. Nul n'est indispensable à sa nation. Les juges électoraux doivent prendre leurs responsabilités et travailler en respectant le vote des citoyens et non en devenant complices des braquages électoraux. Le Ghana , le Sénégal, le Bénin, le Nigeria, le cap vert donnent toujours le bon exemple en matière de transparence électorale. Les autres pays doivent suivre notamment la côte d'ivoire où Dramane Ouattara vient de violer la constitution en éliminant avec l'aide de la justice, tous les concurrents sérieux. C'est une honte pour la démocratie
Au Cameroun si il avait eu un Macky sall il l aurait pas viré pour un inspecteur d Impôt menteur et manipulateur qui en moins de deux à déjà mis l économie quasiment au sol
Les peuples ont roujours les dirigeants qu'ils méritent. Le Cameroun mérite un vieillard de 93ans et les autres un président de leur choix. Ainsi va la vie. Ne venez pas pour condamner les autres pour être responsables de votre situation.
