A family tragedy of extreme violence has shaken the city of Ngaoundéré, in the Adamawa region of Cameroon. A 27-year-old man, identified as Abdou, was arrested after stabbing his mother 38 times before slitting her throat on Friday night in the Baladji II neighborhood.

Initial reports indicate that the son was under the influence of drugs, specifically cocaine. According to investigators, Abdou returned to his mother's home intending to steal several items to finance a trip abroad. Caught by his mother while attempting to steal, he allegedly attacked her violently before fatally slitting her throat.

After the murder, Abdou allegedly fled with several accomplices, taking various items, including two televisions, an inverter, a fan, and a gas cylinder. The stolen goods were then reportedly resold at low prices, for a total estimated at 120,000 FCFA.

Alerted, law enforcement immediately launched a search operation led by the Ngaoundéré research brigade. Abdou was finally apprehended after a two-day manhunt, along with one of his accomplices and the suspected receiver of stolen goods. A reconstruction of the crime was carried out to determine the exact sequence of events.

Two other suspects, presented as accomplices in this case, are still being actively sought by investigators. Local authorities, shocked by the brutality of the crime, are calling on the public to be vigilant and to cooperate in order to facilitate the swift arrest of those still at large.

This tragic murder, resembling a family nightmare, has deeply moved the residents of the Baladji II neighborhood and reignited the debate on the devastating effects of drug addiction, domestic violence, and drug trafficking in the region. Legal proceedings are underway, and Abdou is expected to appear in court in the coming days.
