Côte d’Ivoire : Tidjane Thiam porte un coup à Jean Louis Billon
Clearly, Tidjane Thiam and Jean Louis Billon are not buddies. The former stated in early August on the YouTube channel AFO Media's "Moment of Truth" program that the latter would not be "solution B" if he were not a candidate in the Ivory Coast presidential election next October.
"The PDCI wants me to be President of the Republic. Period, not Mr. Billon. He can be a candidate, but he will not be the PDCI candidate. These are people who do not behave in an adult and responsible manner. I never wanted to talk about him, but all his behavior since my return... He is someone I do not know, I met him once in my life. I do not talk about people I do not know. He talks about me... Ivorians, they know me through my achievements, what has Mr. Billon done by the strength of his wrist, not inherited?" attacked the president of the PDCI-RDA.
A decision that comes after the officialization of Billon's candidacy
Yesterday, Friday, August 22, we learned that he had dismissed the head of the Sifca group from his position as Departmental Delegate of Dabakala 1. The former minister was temporarily replaced by Touré Tiémoko Justin, reports Abidjan.net, which consulted the press release.
This decision, which appears to be a sanction, comes after the official announcement of Jean Louis Billon's candidacy for the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). His initiative is considered by the PDCI-RDA leadership as an act of defiance. So far, the party's only candidate in the October election is Tidjane Thiam.
It should be noted that Jean Louis Billon has never made a secret of his presidential ambitions, which has often created friction within his political party.
