Coup d’Etat déjoué au Bénin : Talon pointe du doigt « certaines autorités politiques et militaires étrangères »
In Benin, President Patrice Talon delivered his State of the Nation address on Tuesday, December 23, before members of Parliament in Porto-Novo. One of the most striking moments of his speech was his reference to the failed coup attempt of Sunday, December 7.
The Beninese leader paid tribute to the Beninese armed forces for "their bravery and loyalty to the Republic in the face of (this) attack against the Beninese nation, perpetrated by senseless fringe elements."
"Manipulated by a few compatriots seeking lost privileges"
According to him, these men in fatigues were "manipulated by some compatriots seeking lost privileges, as well as certain foreign political and military authorities."
In conclusion, the Beninese president paid tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives during this attempted coup, and offered his condolences, on behalf of the Beninese nation, to their families and loved ones.
