Le général Doumbouya promet l’accès universel à l’électricité en Guinée d’ici 2030

On the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Guinea participated in the validation meeting of the National Energy Pact, alongside sixteen other African countries. On this occasion, the transitional president, General Mamadi Doumbouya, reaffirmed the State's commitment to guaranteeing Guineans universal access to reliable, clean, and affordable electricity by 2030.

An ambitious commitment

"The Republic of Guinea confirms its commitment to guaranteeing, by 2030, universal access to reliable, clean and affordable electricity, while ensuring sufficient capacity to support national industrialization, particularly mining, through a transparent and constructive partnership with the private sector," declared the Head of State. This promise, part of the country's energy transformation vision, aims to meet major development challenges and improve the living conditions of the population.

Quantified objectives

The program aims to:

  1. Ensure universal access to electricity for more than 7.7 million Guineans,
  2. Providing clean cooking solutions to 4.1 million people,
  3. Strengthen national production capacity, increasing from 2,517 MW to 3,827 MW, with a 70% share from renewable energy.

Colossal funding to be mobilized

To achieve these commitments, Guinea will need to raise an estimated $8.9 billion in financing, including $1.2 billion from public funds and $7.6 billion from the private sector. The government is counting on international cooperation and a favorable investment environment to make this ambition a reality.

Towards an energy revolution?

While the goal set by General Doumbouya is hailed as ambitious, it represents a colossal challenge in a country where the energy deficit persists. Its achievement will depend on the authorities' ability to implement a clear, funded, and sustainable strategy to meet citizens' expectations.

22 morts à Madagascar hier à cause de l'électricité et de l'eau. 22 jeunes , par millions ils sont descendus dans la rue et la police leur a tiré dessus à balles réelles. Quelle tristesse. Drame de la misère et de la pauvreté.
