Le Sénégal et l’UEMOA évaluent les réformes communautaires de 2025

Senegal is preparing to review its commitments within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). This Monday, May 18, 2026, Dakar will host the 11th annual review of community reforms, policies, programs, and projects. This high-level meeting will bring together the WAEMU Commission delegation, led by its president, Abdoulaye Diop, and the Senegalese government delegation, headed by the Minister of Finance and Budget, Cheikh Diba. The objective is to examine and validate the results of the technical evaluation conducted at the end of last year.

The discussions will be based on the findings of a comprehensive technical review conducted from November 10 to 12, 2025. This work, documented in an official memorandum, assesses the effective implementation of community directives by the Senegalese government. Following the formal session scheduled at the Pullman Hotel in Dakar, this strategic document will be officially presented to Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, who holds the political presidency for this national evaluation exercise.

Established by an additional act of the Conference of Heads of State and Government on October 24, 2013, this annual review mechanism has become a key instrument of regional governance. Placed under the direct supervision of the Union's finance ministers, it aims to harmonize national legislation, accelerate the implementation of common sectoral policies, and ensure the proper execution of projects financed by the WAEMU for the benefit of local populations.
