Madagascar : La junte lance un mandat d’arrêt international contre un puissant homme d’affaires proche de Rajoelina
Bad news for Malagasy businessman Maminiaina Ravatomanga. The Antananarivo Anti-Corruption Unit issued an international arrest warrant for him yesterday, Thursday, October 16. This Malagasy citizen, known to be close to ousted President André Rajoelina, is accused of money laundering and terrorist financing. The warrant orders all Malagasy bailiffs and law enforcement officers to arrest him and take him to the Antanimora Central Prison.
At the head of a veritable economic empire
Mamy Ravatomanga is currently on the run in Mauritius. The man is an iconic figure in the business world in his country. He is the Chairman and CEO of the Sodiat Group, a holding company that operates in agriculture, construction, distribution, media, healthcare, transit, tourism, and transport. Suffice it to say, Mamy is at the head of a veritable economic empire.
His name had already been cited in several cases of alleged corruption and tax evasion, but no conviction was ever handed down against him.
