Mali: A building under construction collapses in Commune V of Bamako
Tragedy struck Daoudabougou. A building under construction in this neighborhood of Bamako's Commune V collapsed on the afternoon of Sunday, March 22, while approximately forty workers were carrying out concrete work. Alerted, the police and civil protection teams immediately went to the scene. They were able to pull several workers from the rubble.
"There are 20 injured, including 11 serious cases," declared Colonel Adama Diatigui Diarra of the Bamako Fire Department's Regional Director of Civil Protection to ORTM. Other people are still trapped under the rubble. Rescue teams are working to assist them.
Investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy and establish a true assessment of the damage.
