Maroc : «Macky Sall négocie pour...»
While congratulating the national team on their victory at the AFCON, MP Tahirou Sarr strongly criticized the sporting and diplomatic authorities regarding the fate of the 18 Senegalese supporters still detained in Morocco.
A Federation "without character"
The parliamentarian, quoted by L'Observateur in its Friday, February 6th edition, denounced the attitude of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). According to him, it is unacceptable that the federation indulges in festivities and celebratory tours while fellow citizens "languish in prison" in the host country. "The Federation should take a firm stand with CAF to demand the same level of protection for supporters as for the players," he insisted, condemning a lack of solidarity and character.
Tahirou Sarr also questions the effectiveness of Senegalese diplomacy. Citing the excellent relations between Dakar and Rabat, he proposes direct intervention at the highest level. He calls on President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to initiate a request for a royal pardon from the King of Morocco to allow for the immediate repatriation of the supporters.
The MP also revealed, citing a "reliable source," that Macky Sall is currently negotiating their release. He encourages this approach while lamenting the inaction of the new regime. "Since those in power are doing nothing, at least he's trying," he remarked ironically.
