Présidentielle en Guinée-Bissau : Le candidat Fernando Dias revendique la victoire au « premier tour »
In Guinea-Bissau, Fernando Dias claims victory in the first round of Sunday's presidential election. The opposition leader asserts he has a "comfortable lead" over incumbent President Umaro Embalo.
“We have already collected our data and we know the result. This (presidential) election was won in the first round. It’s done, it’s done. We are simply waiting for confirmation from the competent authority (CNE) so that we can mobilize the population in the streets,” Mr. Dias told reporters in Bissau.
The CNE is expected to announce the results by Thursday.
He congratulated the voters for their participation in the election. "This shows they were tired and needed this change," the opposition leader believes. On the other side, Mr. Dias is being urged to wait for the official results before declaring victory.
The National Electoral Commission (CNE) has pledged to release the results by Thursday, November 27.
