Présidentielle en Guinée: fermeture des bureaux de vote

Polling stations began closing Sunday evening in Guinea, after a day of voting that was calm but without large turnout, in a presidential election that is expected to complete the return to constitutional order, AFP journalists observed.

Nearly 6.8 million voters were called upon to vote to choose between nine contenders, including General Mamadi Doumbouya, the overwhelming favorite, who had nevertheless promised not to run after seizing power in a coup.

The vote count began immediately after the closing of polling station number 1 at the Federico Mayor school in downtown Conakry at 6:00 PM (GMT and local time).
