Saly Carrefour : une bagarre pour un oignon « rossi » dégénère en violence et finit au tribunal
Landlord F. Diouf and her Guinean tenants, N. Tounkara and her husband M. Ba, appeared before the Mbour court following a domestic incident in Saly Carrefour. While two months of unpaid rent had already strained their relationship, it was a simple onion thrown into hot oil – a “rossi” in Wolof – that ignited the conflict, reports L'Observateur, which attended the hearing.
On November 7th, the same source details, while the two women were sharing the same kitchen, F. Diouf threw a chopped onion into the oil, causing thick smoke that bothered the tenant. Her husband intervened and asked the landlord to warn her in the future before handling condiments in hot oil.
Already irritated by the late payments, F. Diouf took the remark very badly and ordered the couple to leave. The argument quickly escalated into a general brawl. F. Diouf's daughters intervened. R. Faye slapped Ba, who was then beaten by his sister, Nd. Faye. At the same time, the mother attacked N. Tounkara, pulling her hair and tearing off her loincloth, leaving her naked in front of her five-year-old son. Another tenant, TB Badiane, then joined in and struck N. Tounkara with a broom.
Rescued by neighbors, the Guinean couple received temporary incapacity for work (ITT) certificates of 15 days for the woman and 10 days for the man. Fatou Diouf, for her part, produced a three-day medical certificate and also filed a complaint.
In court, both parties described the breakdown of a once cordial relationship. Each claimed one million CFA francs in damages. The court ultimately found all the defendants guilty and sentenced them to two months' imprisonment, suspended.
As compensation, F. Diouf and her daughters will have to pay 250,000 CFA francs to the Guinean couple, while they will receive 50,000 CFA francs from their tenants, concludes the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group.

Drôle d’histoire, mais je suis sûr qu’avec le différentiel de 200.000 FCFA, le couple guinéen va régler ses 2 mois d’arrières de loyer, soit au prix des coups et blessures reçus de la part des sénégalais! Sénégalais ye sott Guinéens yi ni koi? Mais benene locataire bi, louciy yoname?
