Tanzanie : Samia Suluhu Hassan investie présidente malgré les violences électorales

Samia Suluhu Hassan was sworn in as president of Tanzania on Monday, state television showed, despite election violence that the opposition said left hundreds dead and an election criticized for its lack of transparency.

"I, Samia Suluhu Hassa, swear that I will fulfill my duties as President of the Republic (...) diligently and with a sincere heart," declared the head of state, who wore a red headscarf and a long black dress. She was promoted to the presidency of Tanzania following the death of John Magufuli in 2021 and is accused of leading a severe crackdown, after initially easing the restrictions imposed by her predecessor.
