Thiès : Un père fait condamner son fils pour violences liées à la consommation d’alcool
The Thiès court heard a case on Monday involving a family matter marked by repeated violence fueled by alcoholism. Young I. Thiaw was prosecuted for violence and assault against a parent, following a complaint filed by his father, O. Thiaw.
In court, the father explained that he had taken legal action to prevent a tragedy. According to him, every time his son drinks alcohol, he becomes violent and lashes out at his brothers. "It can escalate and cause irreparable harm. I took him to court to avoid the worst," he declared, denouncing his son's inappropriate and irresponsible behavior, which he accuses of spending most of his time getting drunk.
For his part, the defendant contested the accusations, claiming that his dispute concerned one of his brothers and not his father.
Considering the facts to be consistent, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law.
After deliberation, the court found I. Thiaw guilty of the charges against him and sentenced him to two months in prison, suspended.
