Une femme accouche de quintuplés après 12 ans d’infertilité
In Ethiopia, Bedriya Adem, a courageous woman who braved 12 years of infertility, has just given birth to FIVE babies at once.
A true sign of hope for all women waiting for a child.
For 12 long years, Bedriya Adem and her husband tried everything. Between incessant prayers, treatments, and the sometimes judgmental gaze of society, the couple was beginning to lose hope. But as a proverb from our region says: "God's timing is best."
Last Tuesday, at the Hiwot Fana specialist hospital, fate took a dramatic turn. While doctors had told her she was carrying four babies, it was ultimately five little miracles (four boys and one girl) who uttered their first cries by cesarean section.
"I cannot express my happiness. I prayed for just one child, and Allah gave me five!" the still emotional mother told the BBC.
What makes this birth even more incredible? Zero IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)!
Dr. Mohamed Nur Abdulahi confirmed that the conception occurred completely naturally. In the medical world, the chances of having quintuplets naturally are 1 in 55 million. This shows just how blessed Bedriya is!
The babies, named Naif, Ammar, Munzir, Nazira, and Ansar, weigh between 1.2 kg and 1.3 kg. Although they are still under observation, doctors are very optimistic about their survival.
It seems that heaven has decided to bless African mothers right now! Bedriya's case is not isolated:
In South Africa, Nomcebo Likhuleni (30 years old) welcomed quadruplets on the day of her eldest daughter's birthday.
In Kenya, Rachael Simba (28 years old) also gave birth to quadruplets, when triplets were predicted!
While the joy is immense, the challenge is equally so. Going from zero to five children requires colossal resources. As Nomcebo, another mother of quadruplets, so aptly put it: "God doesn't give us a burden we can't bear, but any help will be welcome."
