Zimbabwe : Candidature au Conseil de sécurité de l’ONU avec le soutien de Moscou
Zimbabwe has officially submitted its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2027-2028 term. This initiative is supported by Russia, India, Cuba, and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
On September 9, the Russian ambassador to Zimbabwe conveyed a message of support from Vladimir Putin to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, stressing that Harare's presence on the Council would contribute to "a just and multipolar world."
For his part, Mnangagwa assured that his country will defend priorities such as peace, security, regional cooperation and programs for women and youth.
Zimbabwe has previously served on the Security Council twice, in 1983-1984 and in 1991-1992.
