Dagana : Les producteurs de riz au bord du désespoir face à la mévente de plus de 60 000 tonnes
Rice producers in the Dagana department, in the Senegal River valley, are sounding the alarm. For several months, they have struggled to sell their stocks, estimated at over 60,000 tons of white rice and 300,000 tons of paddy rice, stored in warehouses. This situation seriously threatens the survival of the sector and jeopardizes upcoming agricultural seasons.
Adiouma Boh, spokesperson for the producers, expressed the profound distress of the rural community during a recent media appearance. "The problem is the complete lack of sales for rice. We cannot produce without marketing and processing. Today, throughout the entire valley, the rice is there, suffering. I would even say that the rice is crying out for help to be sold," he declared bitterly.
According to him, only urgent government intervention can defuse this crisis. "The government holds the solution. If nothing is done, the consequences will be felt in the coming seasons. Farmers cannot wait: they must treat, fertilize, and maintain their crops. Without money, it's a disaster," he warned.
Producers are therefore asking the government to quickly find a successful solution to the marketing of local rice, but also to prepare for the 2026 dry season campaign, presented as a key step in the implementation of the program contract of approximately 1000 billion CFA francs, recently signed with the State to achieve a target of 75% self-sufficiency in rice.
Adiouma Boh made a solemn appeal to the President of the Republic and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. "The President visited the rice-growing areas a few months ago. Today, we are facing serious marketing difficulties. We ask him to intervene quickly to save the national rice industry," he added.
If this crisis continues, it risks jeopardizing not only the incomes of thousands of producers, but also Senegal's ambitions towards food self-sufficiency.

Quand j ai découvert le riz de la Vallée je ne mange plus le riz importé.
Le riz local ,contrairement au riz importé ,longtemps conservés,avec souvent des produits,est beaucoup mieux.
Le sac de 25 kg peut s acheter à 8 000 ou 8 500f chez les décortiquées.
Mais quand les commerçants s approvisionnent au niveau des décortiquées,alors ils revendent ce même sac à 12 000 ou 12 500f.
Si vous traitez directement avec les producteurs,c encore mieux,ils vendent les " moudo" moins chers.
C'est pas sorcier ! On ne peut pas produire localement et vendre au même prix que l'importé
