Kaolack : Concertations CNIA-producteurs au menu d'un atelier pour la campagne de commercialisation 2025

Stakeholders in the peanut sector met in Kaolack to review the previous marketing campaign and prepare for the one scheduled to begin in less than 45 days. The meeting, chaired by Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Fall, president of the Standardization Committee of the National Interprofessional Peanut Committee (CNIA), and attended by the regional director of trade, Adama Mouhamed Mbaye, and the Regional Director of Agriculture, Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Dieng, addressed several key points for improving the organization of the sector.

“The CNIA had begun a restructuring of its bodies to be closer to producers and to be very open and inclusive of new professions, what we call the new peanut professions, in particular local processing and exports, in addition to the oil mills that existed before. It is within this framework that we are in this process of opening up and restructuring, and that we have met here on the eve of another marketing campaign to take stock of the agricultural campaign and prepare for the campaign which is coming in less than 45 days,” explained the president of the CNIA Standardization Committee.

Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba Fall informed in this regard that in less than a month, a meeting is planned with the Minister of Agriculture, in the peanut basin, in order to gather the opinions of all parties to better prepare the marketing campaign "which we think will be an extremely important campaign".

Regarding the results of the previous marketing campaign, "we all noted that few players participated because production was not up to par. The price set was considered high, and Sonacos intervened. The other oil mills did not conduct a campaign, while the local processors in Touba had a timid campaign. And in Saloum, many players were sidelined because the quantity was not there."

Addressing the issue of screening, Mr. Fall reiterated the mandatory nature of the system: "There was this unfortunate habit of no longer screening the seeds. It must be understood that we are in a regulated environment and that these seeds, which are sold at all levels, must meet certain criteria."

Regarding producer prices, the president of the CNIA emphasizes that consultations are underway.
