«J’avais refusé quand il m’a demandé d'intégrer le gouvernement…» : La confidence de Abass Fall
In Medina this Saturday, Abass Fall spoke at length about the circumstances of his entry into the government. The Pastef leader in Dakar, now mayor of the capital, indicated that he did not want to be part of the government team.
“I was elected as a member of parliament, just as the President of the Republic was elected, or the mayors. It was President Ousmane Sonko who asked me to join the government. I refused. I didn’t want to join the government, I don’t want to be dictated to by a human being,” he told his supporters in Pastef Medina.
He continued: “God knows that if it were not for the respect and consideration I have for President Ousmane Sonko, I would not have entered this government. Because I did not want to (…)”, he said.
The mayor of Dakar states that he prefers a popular mandate to an appointment by decree. Furthermore, he emphasizes that had he remained a minister in the current context, marked by tensions between Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and President Bassirou Diomaye, he would have been dismissed from his post.
“God knows why I didn’t want to. Because I was going to leave this meeting and on Monday at 8 a.m. I would be fired. But I don’t care if I’m fired as long as I’m on the path of truth. Because it’s time we told each other the truth,” he asserted.
