Under the vaults of the former Palace of Justice in Dakar, the emotion was palpable on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Artists, fashion enthusiasts, curious onlookers and friends had gathered to celebrate the 10-year career of Babacar Touré, a designer whose work draws its inspiration from African roots.

From the moment you entered, the tone was set: a simple setting, adorned with traditional textiles, contemporary sculptures, and projections retracing the artist's career. A true tribute to a decade of creativity, blending cultural heritage and modernity.

B.Touré, known for her bold collections blending local fabrics, ethnic symbols, and contemporary cuts, has established a signature style over the years that is both profoundly African and universal. Her creations tell stories—those of the women, traditions, and identities that make up the continent.

“These ten years represent a human and artistic adventure. I wanted to show that we can innovate while remaining true to our origins,” the designer confides.

The evening, punctuated by fashion shows, musical performances and photographic exhibitions, highlighted the evolution of a committed artist, determined to promote conscious and sustainable African fashion.

Several collections of men's and women's clothing and bags were unveiled, tracing the designer's evolution, such as "Starry Night" and "Colorful Night," to name just a few. The event resonated with the audience, blending emotion, history, and above all, a sense of identity through African fabrics infused with a touch of modernity characteristic of Senegal.

“African roots are at the heart of everything I do. I draw inexhaustible strength from the textures, colors, and symbols of Africa. Our fabrics tell stories, our cuts reflect our identities,” he added.

In a specific context, B. Touré recalled that the place of creation in Africa today is essentially in the influence of Senegalese culture.

"Creators innovate, dare, and authentically tell our stories. The new generation is taking responsibility, reclaiming the codes, mixing styles, and boldly redefining African identity."
