À l’AIBD, l’État mise sur les PME pour la souveraineté économique
Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) is marking a new turning point in the promotion of Senegalese entrepreneurship. A permanent concept store dedicated to "Made in Senegal" products was officially launched by the Secretary of State for SME Development, in partnership with the ADPME (Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises).
Askin Demir, director of LAS, welcomed this promising initiative, calling for the creation of a safe and attractive environment for creators. For him, the issue goes beyond mere visibility. "The important thing is not just to see these products during the day, but to see them every day, to attract investors, and to allow creators to produce sustainably," Mr. Demir argued.
He also highlighted the strategic role of the airport, considered a bridge between the world and West Africa, both culturally and commercially.
Ibrahima Thiam, Secretary of State for SME Development, praised this initiative, describing it as a breath of fresh air for the national economy. He noted that this concept store is a permanent space, now reserved for Senegalese entrepreneurs, showcasing local expertise in key sectors: textiles, processing of local products, leather and hides, crafts, and creative industries.
"This is an incredible opportunity for our talents, our champions, to be able to showcase themselves in an international air and logistics hub," he said.
According to him, this initiative is fully in line with the National Transformation Agenda as desired by the President of the Republic and the government, with the objective of making Senegalese SMEs and SMIs the engines of economic sovereignty and sustainable employment.
Ibrahima Thiam also congratulated LAS and AIBD for their commitment, praising the continuation of the project launched last year with innovative concepts such as Custom Week, the Made in Senegal Corner, and Terre éternelle. These initiatives all strengthen the competitiveness and quality of the products on display. He also addressed a message to entrepreneurs: "You have an opportunity; you must seize it."
Finally, the State, through the ADPME, says it is ready to provide more support to businesses, with the ambition of redeploying this concept in other strategic public spaces, particularly train stations and high-traffic areas.
