Mauritanian Sidi Ould Tah officially takes office on September 1, 2025, as president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), succeeding Nigerian Akinwumi Adesina.

Elected on May 29 with 76.18% of the vote, Sidi Ould Tah, 60, becomes the ninth president of the Group and the first Mauritanian to hold this position. His term will be marked by major challenges, including mobilizing financing following the withdrawal of $555 million in US aid to the African Development Fund.
