Finances publiques : les recettes générées par le PRES de Sonko en quatre mois
The Economic and Social Recovery Plan (PRES), launched in August 2025 by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, generated 4.2 billion CFA francs that same year. For 2026, the Senegalese government, facing significant budgetary difficulties, expects to generate approximately 762.6 billion CFA francs. The Minister of Finance has revealed the resources generated by the measures of this plan.
“The amount of revenue collected under the PRES program reached 63.4 billion CFA francs,” stated Cheikh Diba last Friday during his hearing at the National Assembly. He emphasized that customs revenue collected under the same plan amounted to 7.9 billion CFA francs.
The collection was significantly higher than that of 2025, but still far from the target set in the initial 2026 Finance Law. The State still needs to collect nearly 700 billion FCFA to stay within the initial projections.
In the outline of the PRES (Economic and Social Recovery Plan), unveiled on August 1st, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko estimated the expected resources between 2025 and 2028 at 5,667 billion FCFA. Specifically, 2,111 billion FCFA are expected from domestic resources, 1,091 billion from state assets, 50 billion from reducing the size of the state, and 1,352 billion from endogenous financing excluding debt.
