FMI : la BADEA annonce une excellente nouvelle pour le Sénégal
The outlook appears to be improving for Senegal's public finances. According to recent statements by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), reported by Bloomberg on Friday, May 15, 2026, Senegal is making significant progress towards concluding a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
This positive momentum was reinforced by a high-level diplomatic exchange on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye met with the Managing Director of the IMF, marking a crucial step in restoring mutual trust.
These negotiations come after a period of uncertainty linked to the discovery of previously undisclosed debts, which had disrupted the previous agreement. BADEA is now very optimistic and anticipates "good news" soon. For Dakar, this future program with the Washington-based institution is essential to stabilizing the economy and reassuring international investors in the context of major structural reforms.
