Journée de partage à Louga : Moussa Bala Fofana mise sur les pôles territoires pour booster le développement

Minister Moussa Bala Fofana led a major day of sharing in Louga, focusing on territorial hubs, in the presence of territorial executives. This initiative is part of the President of the Republic's vision to strengthen the territorialization of public policies and accelerate local economic development.

The government has outlined its strategy for implementing the 2050 Agenda, emphasizing endogenous development and economic sovereignty. The approach involves identifying and leveraging the economic potential of each hub, promoting consultation with local stakeholders.

The minister emphasized the importance of consultation with local stakeholders, in accordance with presidential directives. The objective is to gather the opinions, advice, and assessments of local stakeholders to refine the development strategy.

Focus on the Diourbel-Louga pole

The Diourbel-Louga hub represents considerable economic potential, with 18% of the national population. Key sectors include the agri-food industry, agriculture, fisheries, and trade. Touba is a major consumer center, while Lompoul is an area poised for future oil-related development.

The creation of a territorial council, a general management board, and development agencies is planned to stimulate economic activity. Emphasis is placed on improving transport infrastructure and facilities to strengthen the competitiveness of the cluster. The latter benefits from strengths in livestock farming, industry, and agriculture.

Vision and perspectives

Agenda 2050 aims to achieve economic sovereignty in Senegal through the endogenous development of its territories.

Local stakeholders play a crucial role in implementing the development strategy. The territorial council will be a key decision-making body, with legality oversight provided by the administration.

The government is committed to supporting local stakeholders and facilitating decision-making for regional development. The President of the Republic aims for Senegal to achieve economic sovereignty by 2054.

The sharing day in Louga helped strengthen consultation between the government and local stakeholders, while defining strategic axes for the development of the hub.
