La LFI 2026 mobilise plus de 148 milliards F CFA pour l'accès équitable à l'eau
Access to drinking water remains a major concern for the State of Senegal, which is reflected in a significant investment in the draft Initial Finance Law (LFI) for the year 2026. A total amount of more than 148 billion CFA francs is included in this law to ensure equitable access to water for the population.
The government has included three major projects crucial to structuring this investment budget.
The investment amount is mainly intended for the following projects:
Large Water Transfer (GTE) : A colossal sum of 137,000,000,000 CFA francs is planned for the completion of this large-scale project.
Emergency and Strengthening Distribution Systems Project: A budget of 10,000,000,000 CFA francs is allocated to the implementation of this project aimed at consolidating existing networks.
Rural world (extension and social connections): An amount of 1,100,000,000 CFA francs is included in the LFI to carry out the project of extending networks and social connections, aimed at relieving rural populations.
These figures confirm the government's desire to make the water sector a strategic priority in its budgetary agenda.
