L’emploi salarié fléchit en août 2025, porté par des disparités sectorielles
At the end of August 2025, salaried employment in the modern sector had declined by 7% compared to the previous month, according to the Directorate of Forecasting and Economic Studies. This decrease resulted primarily from a significant reduction in staff in industry and certain service segments. Only a few sectors, such as construction, public works, and retail, showed slight growth, partially mitigating the overall decline.
Over an annual period, the trend remains positive with a 1.9% increase compared to August 2024. This annual growth is driven by industry, services, and trade, despite a persistent contraction in the construction sector. These developments highlight sectoral redeployment, where some sectors are strengthening while others remain fragile, reflecting structural adjustments and cyclical fluctuations in the labor market.
The data highlight the importance of close monitoring of salaried employment, which must take into account not only overall volumes, but also sectoral distribution, in order to guide appropriate public policies to support the most vulnerable sectors and stimulate the creation of sustainable jobs in the context of a moderately growing economy.
