Saly Expo 2025 : l'esprit et la finalité de la première édition sur la Petite Côte
Saly Expo 2025: the spirit and purpose of the first edition on the Petite Côte
Preparations for the first edition of Saly Expo are well underway. A technical meeting was held on Tuesday, October 15, in Saly. It brought together the event's three main partners: the Senegal International Foreign Trade Center (CICES), the Senegal Coastal Development and Promotion Company (SAPCO), and the Saly-Portudal City Hall.
The objective is to lay the foundations for a major economic event dedicated to promoting the tourist, craft and commercial potential of the Petite Côte.
This major event is scheduled from October 23 to November 5, 2025. This first edition will have the theme: "Territories, demographic mobility and economic flows: dynamics that drive sustainable development."
The organizers aim to make it a regional showcase for investment and the promotion of local products, while promoting the integration of the area's economic players: artisans, hoteliers, traders and project leaders.
CICES, the technical coordinator of the event, has undertaken to provide logistical and institutional support commensurate with this ambition.
"Since 1974, CICES has organized fairs exclusively in Dakar. It was time to reach out to the regions to promote their economic and commercial potential. This direction is in line with the vision of the new authorities, particularly that of the territorial hubs," declared Justin Corréa, Director General of CICES.
The Director General of CICES also revealed that this first experiment in Saly is part of a national strategy of economic decentralization.
"We plan to eventually establish an exhibition center in each territorial hub. Saly Expo marks a turning point in this dynamic and will serve as a model for future editions," he explains.
The interest generated by the event confirms this enthusiasm: the organizers, who had started with 180 stands, had to revise their forecasts upwards in the face of demand exceeding 500 applications, notably thanks to the support of ADEPME.
"We finally increased the number of stands to 240, within the available space of 3 hectares," Mr. Corréa said.
A 3-hectare site is being developed by SAPCO and will have all the necessary amenities: earthworks, waste management, security, cleaning and operational logistics.
Its Managing Director, Serigne Mamadou Mboup, emphasized the total commitment of his organization to making Saly Expo an unmissable annual event, contributing to diversifying Senegal's tourist offering.
"Beyond the sun and the beach, Saly is now becoming a place for economic, commercial and cultural meetings," he said.
Saly Expo 2025 will also be held virtually thanks to the Phare Connect platform, allowing those who cannot travel to exhibit or visit the stands online.
This innovation, already tested at the last Dakar International Fair (FIDAK), offers a hybrid experience that combines physical presence and digital participation.
